The AWait-ING is inspired by Tupac Shakur’s A Rose that grew from concrete, and the stunning photograph of Adeyanuji Adeleke (@yanjusofine_) by the talented Chris Evans of Clearly Focused Media Works. Acrylic on Canvas (30x42) A snapshot moment when the artist realizes the two significant faces she wears. Self Duality explores the conflicting emotion the artist experiences as she comes to terms with her “blackness”. Acrylic and oil on Canvas (48x36) An “Immigrant's Duality” explores the unfortunate reminder that in most comparisons, the black race seems to regularly be undervalued. Acrylic and oil on Canvas A pair: (24x36) Africa’s” Duality” explores the notion of “two sides of the same coin.” As a west african girl who’s initial view of africa extended to just the Congo, keke unpacks a newly found love and admiration of the east part of Africa. Having found sisterhood and friendships within women of these culture, realizing the similarities in core values she shares within these women, the artist articulates the duality( two sides of the same coin) of both cultures.
